Working at AIM WA
The Australian Institute of Management WA (AIM WA) is a not-for-profit, membership-based organisation dedicated to inspiring better workplaces by delivering high-quality learning experiences, celebrating and recognising excellence, and by influencing conversations that matter.
Our vision is to be a contemporary education leader shaping management, leadership, and workplace excellence, for the benefit of Australia and our neighbours.
Head of Learning and Development
AIM WA is moving into an exciting new strategic chapter - we're evolving, expanding our reach and embedding engaging technologies into our offerings to strengthen our impact.
As Head of Learning and Devel you'll own the design, delivery and evaluation of our curriculum and Signature Programs, set L&D quality standards across in-person, virtual and online delivery, and integrate AI to enhance learning and commercial outcomes.
You'll bring proven program design, development and evaluation experience, stakeholder influence and commercial acumen, matched with the behaviours that matter at AIM WA - humility, a sense of humour, openness to feedback, adaptability, attention to detail and the discipline to follow through.
Above all, you'll share a commitment to our purpose, mission and values of respect, personal responsibility, customer focus, collaboration and stewardship.
The Role
As an integral part of our Learning and Development team, you will:
- Work closely with the Chief Learning and Innovation Officer to set and maintain AIM WA's L&D Quality Standards (across in-person, virtual and online training modes) ensuring clear learning objectives, coherent flow, integration of relevant learning technologies and activity design consistent with adult learning principles.
- Use the L&D Quality Standards to scope, lead and manage the design, development, delivery and evaluation of Public Training Courses and Signature Programs.
- Operationalise the Institute's innovation agenda in learning and development: support the continued integration of Artificial Intelligence into curriculum design and development activities, run low-risk design pilots and recommend scale/stop decisions with the Chief Learning and Innovation Officer.
- Lead the effective differentiation of curriculum development across in-person, virtual and online modes of learning (i.e., changes to timing, engagement methods, digital tools).
- Use evaluation data to prioritise improvements and retire and/or refresh curriculum.
- Take responsibility for the conception, design and launch select Signature Programs and sector-specific offerings, ensuring programs align with AIM WA's strategic priorities, brand positioning and business goals.
- Identify, engage, contract and manage external subject matter experts across diverse industries to assist with Signature Program design and delivery.
- Identify, evaluate and recruit facilitators, speakers and independent consultants for Signature Programs.
- Implement a comprehensive evaluation framework for all Signature Programs including participant evaluations, commercial returns and recommendations for improvement.
Selection Criteria:
Essential:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (business, psychology, human resources, education and training) and/or equivalent, relevant leadership and management experience.
- At least five years' expertise in program design, development and evaluation within leadership, executive education or related fields.
- Proven ability to meet deadlines, manage projects and achieve performance targets.
- Demonstrated ability to innovate and launch new offerings to distinct industry segments.
- Strong strategic and commercial acumen with capacity to balance participant experience, brand impact and profitability.
- Ability to operate independently as a strategic lead while working collaboratively across multiple teams.
Desirable:
- Post-graduate qualification in a related field (business, psychology, human resources, education and training).
- Experience engaging and managing subject matter experts and external facilitators.
- Established networks across Western Australian industries.
- Certifications in facilitation, organisational coaching, or diagnostic tools (e.g., ICF, DISC, PRINT, LSI etc.).
- Familiarity with evaluation frameworks and impact measurement in learning contexts.
