
Manager, Child Safety, Seniors and Disabilities

The Manager, Media is responsible for leading a team of media professionals, and helping set the department's strategic media direction, prepare proactive positive materials and respond to media requests. The Manager will need to have strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
They will be organised and deadline driven, have excellent attention to detail and issues management skills, be a strong manager and team player, and be adaptable in a high-pressure environment with rapidly changing and evolving priorities. They will be required to work out of hours as part of the Media Unit on-call roster.
As the Manager you will:
- Lead an effective team and foster an equitable and ethical workplace based on best practice principles of management, including the ability to effectively coach and mentor staff.
- Provide high level media advice to senior executives and ministerial advisors on issues impacting our various portfolios and programs of work to develop and implement strategies to achieve success in the media.
- Use your strong writing skills, media management expertise, knowledge and understanding to research, write, review and edit media releases and media responses and associated materials.
- Lead, develop and execute media strategies to ensure the department's key strategic priorities are communicated to audiences through the most appropriate channels.
- Identify proactive opportunities to promote the work of the department through traditional media coverage.
- Liaise and build relationships with the ministerial advisors, senior departmental executives, external organisations, other departmental media teams, DPC and the media to identify and deliver media opportunities.
- Maintain current knowledge of latest trends and best practice in the media industry.
- Undertake any communications or media-related activities as directed by the Executive Director, Strategic Communication and Media.
- Be required to work occasional out of hours as required and participate in the Media Until on call roster.
