Are you passionate about improving health outcomes in children in South West Sydney?

The Health Promotion Team at SWSLHD is seeking an enthusiastic Health Promotion Officer to plan, implement and evaluate healthy eating and active living initiatives in children aged 7-13 years in South West Sydney. The position will also support the coordination and delivery of the Go4Fun Aboriginal program and develop locally tailored initiatives for the Aboriginal community.

We are looking for someone with experience in developing and evaluating programs and delivering health promotion strategies within the community. Your networking and communication skills will allow you to build strong partnerships and facilitate program implementation and evaluation.

What You'll be Doing

This position will contribute to the implementation of Healthy Eating Active Living initiatives, including Go4Fun Aboriginal programs in South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD).

The position is responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating initiatives that support healthy eating and active living in children aged 7-13 years and their parents/carers living in SWSLHD. It also supports the coordination and delivery of the Go4Fun Aboriginal program which is an evidence-based culturally adapted program for the Aboriginal community aiming to assist parents and children develop lifelong healthy eating and exercise behaviours.

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in health or social science and /or equivalent practical
• Demonstrated program delivery experience and project coordination skills
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in health promotion planning, implementation, evaluation and dissemination particularly relating to healthy eating and active living in children aged 7-13 and their parents/carers
• Demonstrated high level written and oral communication skills (including the ability to conduct public presentations to a wide range of audiences) and ability to work in partnership with key stakeholders/communities.
• Understanding of issues that impact on service delivery in relation to social disadvantage, Aboriginal and CALD communities.
• Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
