Operations Accountant

About The Role
We are now seeking an experienced Operations Accountant to join our Finance team, based in our Brisbane Corporate Office. Reporting to the Lead Finance Business Partner, you will play a key role in ensuring the accurate and timely preparation, review, and delivery of the Curragh Mine's financial results, forecasts, and budgets.

This role is ideal for a qualified or near-qualified accountant who enjoys partnering with operations to deliver insights and support sound financial decisions across a dynamic mining business.

Your role will be rewarding and varied, where you will:

• Prepare month-end financial reporting deliverables for the Curragh Mine, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with internal controls and accounting standards.
• Maintain the integrity of General Ledgers and accounting records for the operation.
• Prepare financial results and variance analysis for inclusion in the monthly Curragh Leadership Team reporting pack.
• Deliver journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and fixed asset register management.
• Provide key inputs to rolling 12-month EBITDA and cash forecasts.
• Support the preparation and coordination of the annual budgeting process for Curragh.
• Liaise with internal and external auditors to support audit and compliance requirements.
• Work closely with the Commercial, Financial Reporting, and Strategic Planning teams to ensure accurate and meaningful reporting.
• Ensure compliance with SOX controls and maintain internal control integrity across the mine's assets and liabilities.
• Engage with site stakeholders to support financial performance reviews, analysis, and process improvement.

About You
You will have:

• A Bachelor's degree in Commerce or Accounting, with CA/CPA qualification desirable (or currently in progress).
• Experience in a commercial accounting or professional services role, ideally within the mining or heavy industry sector.
• Proven experience preparing management financial reports, variance analysis, and supporting budget or forecast cycles.
• A solid understanding of internal controls, SOX requirements, and audit processes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficiency in SAP, TM1, and Microsoft Office applications (particularly Excel).
• Strong communication skills with the ability to partner effectively with operational and corporate stakeholders.
