Position Summary
The Manager, Enrollment and Student Engagement provides oversight of the student experience from admission through graduation, guiding students through onboarding, registration, and re-enrollment while providing proactive outreach and individualized coaching to promote persistence and program completion.

This position plays a key leadership role in coordinating student communications, engagement initiatives, and retention efforts to ensure a seamless, high-touch experience that reflects MICA's commitment to excellence in professional and continuing education. The Manager serves as a cross-departmental liaison, collaborating with academic and administrative units to enhance the quality and consistency of student support. Evening and weekend availability is required to accommodate the needs of working professionals.

The Manager, Enrollment and Student Engagement is central to the success of MICA's MPS programs, which attract working professionals who balance academic study with their careers. By delivering personalized, high-touch guidance and leading initiatives that strengthen the student experience from admission through graduation, the Manager ensures students feel supported and connected at every stage of their journey. This role directly impacts student persistence, satisfaction, and program growth while reinforcing MICA's mission of advancing creativity and professional practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary enrollment coach for MPS students, managing the full student lifecycle from admission and matriculation through graduation.

  • Support Professional Studio students with admissions and registration processes on a secondary basis.

  • Provide individualized coaching on program track selection, course selection, registration timelines, and pathways to completion.

  • Manage and host onboarding seminars and workshops to support MPS and Professional Studio students.

  • Coordinate and share co-curricular programming that supports student learning and professional development.

  • Support Orientation activities

  • Assist students in navigating financial aid, tuition payment plans, and employer tuition benefits.

  • Conduct proactive, high-touch communication with MPS students via phone, email, text, and virtual platforms, including evening and weekend outreach.

  • Collaborate with Enrollment Services, Graduate Admissions, MPS program directors, faculty, Student Academic Success, Financial Aid, and Student Accounts to address barriers and ensure a seamless student experience.

  • Track and document all student interactions; monitor conversion, persistence, and re-enrollment outcomes.

  • Represent MICA's MPS and Professional Studio programs at virtual and in-person information sessions, orientations, and recruitment events.

  • Provide leadership and coordination for student engagement, retention, and satisfaction initiatives within Professional and Continuing Studies programs.

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate communication strategies and engagement plans designed to enhance student belonging, persistence, and success.

  • Serve as the point of contact for process improvements related to student onboarding, registration, and communication workflows.

  • Partner with leadership to establish and assess key performance indicators (KPIs) for student experience and persistence.

  • Mentor and guide part-time staff supporting the MPS and Professional Studio programs, ensuring a consistent and student-centered approach.

  • Lead regular review and reporting of student engagement data, identifying trends and recommending strategies for improvement.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Exceptional skills in communications and interpersonal relations.

  • Leadership experience managing teams and cross-unit projects.

  • Ability to effectively translate and communicate interpersonally, orally and in writing, findings and reports broadly.

  • Ability to research related information and regulations, prepare reports and documents, and attend to details with a high level of accuracy.

  • Ability to effectively communicate interpersonally, orally, and in writing.

  • Skill in the use of personal computers and general office software, including database programs and advanced spreadsheet applications.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and complex projects, meet deadlines, and adapt to dynamic environments while maintaining accuracy.

  • Ability to lead teams across on-campus and remote environments.

  • Technological proficiency, including experience working with data systems and tools used in higher education (e.g., Slate, Banner, Salesforce).

  • Demonstrably effective project management experience.

  • Experience with information and data systems and assessment practices to inform planning and decision-making.

  • Ability to manage budgets.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Three years of experience in admissions, enrollment management, advising, or student success in higher education.

  • Experience with information and data systems and assessment practices to inform planning and decision-making

  • Demonstrated ability to support and coach graduate-level and adult learners.

  • Leadership experience managing teams and cross-unit projects.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills across phone, email, and digital platforms.

  • Experience with CRM or student information systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in graduate/professional studies enrollment or advising.

  • Familiarity with online, hybrid, or low-residency program structures.

  • Knowledge of financial aid processes and tuition benefits for working professionals.

  • Background in arts education or portfolio-based admissions.

  • Bilingual ability (Spanish or other languages)
