The Role

As a member of the Kids and Traffic team you will provide strategic support, professional development, information, resources, leadership and advice regarding road safety education to early childhood services and related local government and other community family support services, universities, TAFE NSW and other accredited tertiary providers of early childhood education courses.

The Kids and Traffic Program is funded as a partnership between Transport for NSW and Macquarie University. Initially available from 2nd February 2026 to December 31, 2027, the position will be subject to a probation period of 6 months. Further employment may be available depending on funding.

About Us

Delivered in partnership with Macquarie University, the Kids and Traffic, Early Childhood Road Safety Education Program, is funded by the NSW Government. The Program is in its fourth decade of a shared governance partnership between Transport for NSW (TfNSW), the NSW Department of Education, Catholic Schools NSW, and The Association of Independent Schools of NSW.

Essential Criteria

  • 4-year Early Childhood Degree

  • Demonstrated ability to:

  • Work effectively both individually and as a team member

  • Initiate projects and implement these effectively with minimum supervision
  • Think creatively, and to initiate and develop strategies suitable for use with young children and their families

  • Sound understanding of the diversity of children's services, programs, current influences upon children's services and the impact these have on Program delivery

  • High level oral and written communication skills applicable to diverse audiences and settings

  • High level ICT and administrative skills including proficiency in Microsoft 365 Office Suite

  • Ability to:

  • Deliver regular evening workshops and occasional weekend workshops

  • Undertake country travel via air and road to deliver workshops throughout NSW

  • A current, valid, and unrestricted NSW driver's licence

  • Knowledge of and commitment to principles of EEO and WHS.

A Medical Clearance, Qualification recognised by NESA, Working with Children Check, National Police Check and Demerit Point Check will be carried out for the successful candidate.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in working with diverse communities
  • Demonstrated experience in or understanding of road safety education
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or willingness to obtain
