About the Role

Platinum Aircraft Charter is seeking professional, motivated pilots to join the Shark Patrol Flight Crew for the 2025 summer season. Based at Aldinga Airfield, this full-time contract involves daily aerial surveillance along South Australia's metro and southern beaches, operating to strict SOPs and high standards.

This is not a scenic joyride—it's a daily, high-frequency public safety operation requiring skill, discipline, and genuine commitment. You will operate Cessna 172 aircraft at low level, alternating between Pilot and Observer/Communicator roles as rostered. Duties include:

• Flying low-level coastal patrols under VFR to a set flight profile
• Providing clear, professional radio communication as Communicator
• Supporting aircraft turnaround, refuelling, and other ground tasks when available
• Maintaining operational awareness and adhering to safety procedures at all times
• Participating in a 7-day roster, including public holidays (e.g. Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year's Day)

There is potential for some additional VFR charter flying, subject to operational requirements and individual performance.

Minimum Requirements

• CPL (A) and valid Class 1 Medical
• Minimum 400 hours total time (more preferred)
• Right to work in Australia
• Full availability for the contract period (November–April), including public holidays
• Strong radio and communication skills
• Punctual, professional, and a team player with a positive attitude

Desirable

• Recent experience in Cessna series aircraft (172, 182, 206)
• Tailwheel experience
• Prior connection to Adelaide Biplanes (as a student, customer, or community member)
• Aerial work, observation, or coastal flying experience

Remuneration

This role is paid under the Air Pilots Award 2020 (MA While base award rates apply, what you'll gain goes well beyond the payslip. You'll be working alongside experienced IFR charter pilots and senior operations staff, gaining exposure to high-level flight operations, crew coordination, safety systems, and the broader mechanics of a professional charter business.
