About the Opportunity

The Aboriginal Employment Program Officer will play an integral role in coordinating and promoting the 2025 Aboriginal Student Employment Program. This program is available to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander undergraduate and postgraduate students and enables the exploration of potential future employment pathways at the University of Tasmania. In addition, this role will:

  • Coordinate program operations and administration, including handling enquiries, organising meetings, overseeing budgeting and rosters, and supporting project tasks.
  • Conduct candidate shortlisting for the program and promote and match students to appropriate work areas.
  • Liaise with students and work areas to support casual registration process, onboarding and provide ongoing assistance.
  • Develop resources and information to support Aboriginal students with career preparation, employability skills, and confidence in applying for roles at the University.
  • Collect and interpret feedback to report on the effectiveness of the Program.

What's Required

  • Demonstrated cultural competence and ability to engage respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people, fostering trust through genuine and consistent communication.
  • Proven program management capabilities, including the ability to plan, resource, implement, and evaluate initiatives to ensure long-term impact.
  • Strong communication with excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative with the ability to adapt seamlessly to working independently or within a dynamic, cross-campus team.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with a commitment to discretion and confidentiality.

Remuneration

Appointment to this role will be at HEO 6 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $116,872 comprising base salary within the range of $92,120 to $99,891, plus 17% superannuation.
