About the Opportunity
As part of the City Operations Program, the Irrigation Technical Officer plays a key role in keeping Adelaide's parks and open spaces healthy, sustainable, and thriving. This hands-on and technical role coordinates the efficient operation, monitoring and development of irrigation and recycled water systems across the City of Adelaide, ensuring they're well maintained, water-smart, and fit for purpose.
Working closely with horticulture teams, designers, project managers and industry partners, the Irrigation Technical Officer designs and implements irrigation systems that enhance water efficiency, plant health and environmental outcomes. The role supports upgrades and new projects that align with Council's strategic goals and sustainability commitments, while identifying opportunities to innovate and introduce new technologies and methodologies.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys combining technical expertise with practical, on-the-ground problem solving. You'll provide advice, mentor staff on best-practice irrigation techniques, and help shape the future of Adelaide's green spaces by raising irrigation standards and improving overall plant and turf health.
Every day brings the opportunity to make a visible impact, ensuring Adelaide's iconic Park Lands and public spaces remain vibrant, sustainable and beautifully maintained for the community to enjoy.
