Oho primarily safeguards clients in care and community sectors by partnering with the organisations they serve. By verifying worker and volunteer credentials in every state and function, Oho keeps their clients safe, reduces admin burden and eliminates compliance risk that keeps Boards, leaders and parents awake at night.
Oho has a loyal customer base and is growing fast and we need a Mid-Level Software Engineer to:
- Build and enhance our core credentials verification platform that processes thousands of worker checks daily
- Develop integrations with HRIS and ATS systems that seamlessly connect Oho with our customers' existing workflows
- Collaborate with product and customer teams to solve real problems for aged care, disability services, and healthcare organisations
- Contribute to our technical evolution as we scale our platform to serve more customers across Australia

About you:
- 2-5 years of software development experience, ideally in a B2B SaaS environment
- Strong foundation in backend development
- Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Vue, or similar)
- Comfortable working with PostgreSQL or other relational databases
- Familiarity with API design and integration patterns (REST, webhooks)
- Understanding of software testing practices and writing maintainable code
- Ability to work in a purpose-driven, fast-paced and changing environment
- Excited about learning new technologies and solving complex problems
- Bonus: Growing interest and progress to integrate AI into development workflow
The Role
Feature Development & Enhancement
Build new features and improve existing functionality across our credentials verification platform
- Write clean, well-tested code that our team can maintain and extend
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving our engineering practices
- Work closely with product managers to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions
Optimize application performance to handle growing data volumes and user loads
Integrations & API Development
Design, manage and build integrations with third-party HRIS and ATS platforms (e.g., Workday, Oracle HCM, PageUp, LiveHire)
- Develop and maintain RESTful APIs for customer and partner integrations
- Work with tools like Workato to create scalable, reusable integration connectors
Troubleshoot integration issues and work with customer teams to ensure smooth data flows
Technical Operations & Improvement
Participate in incident response and help maintain system reliability
- Contribute to database migrations and infrastructure improvements
- Identify technical debt and propose solutions to improve system architecture
- Document your work and share knowledge with the team
Stay current with industry best practices and bring new ideas to the team
Collaboration & Growth
Work closely with designers, product managers, customer success managers, and other engineers to deliver great customer experiences
- Support and learn from team members through pairing and knowledge sharing
- Participate in sprint planning, retrospectives, and technical discussions
- Contribute to a positive, inclusive engineering culture
