Employment Coordinator

Echo is a not-for profit organisation, delivering Workforce employment services in North-East Melbourne. We are currently looking for a full-time 9am to 5pm - Employment Coordinator based at our Ringwood site and delivering outreach services.

Salary: $82,460- $86,000 plus super.

You will assist the Workspace Director to ensure the successful delivery of day to day efficient operations of services, employees and resources, provide case management to job seekers from a culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) background.

What does an Employment Coordinator do?

An Employment Coordinator will manage a caseload of Refugee job seekers and focus on appropriate and sustainable employment for our job seekers. We are looking for someone to monitor and review job seeker compliance requirements, assist in the successful delivery of employment services, mentor and support staff.

Provide individualised support, assistance and guidance to job seekers from a CALD background, who are overcoming barriers to employment. The Employment coordinator If successful will ensure that they gain suitable employment opportunities, and will negotiate, monitor and review the delivery of employment support services for the job seeker. This involves case management of job seekers, reverse marketing, job search training and supporting employers as they take on job seekers from a CALD background.

About the job

  • Engaging employers within the local community, networking and creating employment opportunities for our job seekers
  • Ability to lead and develop a customer centric team and achieve common desired outcomes with relevant stakeholders, organisation and employers
  • Ensure administration requirements and reports are accurate and up to date and provide reports and other information to management as required
  • Work to achieve performance targets and relevant Government Department KPI's
  • Prepare and run information sessions for jobseekers
  • Engaging job seekers, development of a career plan and placement into ongoing employment
  • Meeting with job seekers to discuss their progress toward employment
  • Assisting job seekers with identifying and moving towards vocational goals
  • Work with job seekers to develop and increase their employment skills
  • Develop relationships and partnerships with other local community providers

We are looking for someone with

  • Demonstrated experience in Employment Services
  • Demonstrated experience in leading mentoring and coaching a team to achieve high levels of work performance and compliance
  • Case management or job seeker liaison experience including working with people who are Refugees and Asylum Seekers or are from a Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) background, and an understanding of the challenges they may face
  • Proven ability to motivate job seekers, and advocate and negotiate on their behalf
  • Excellent time management, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Manage competing priorities and multitask in a fast pasted environment
  • High level of admin skills, computer, written communication, report writing and time management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to provide comprehensive job seeker assessment, identifying barriers to employment and preparing individual career plans
  • A strong record of success in placement of job seeker into employment or experience in a similar role
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current labour market trends
  • Good level of organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated positive values of reliability, teamwork, and professionalism, committed to the quality of continuous improvement
  • Ability to speak a second language will be highly regarded
