The Opportunity

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the GLOW Trial – a multi-site, NHMRC-funded stepped-wedge cluster randomised implementation trial aimed at reducing perioperative hypothermia and improving surgical outcomes. Working alongside national partners and multiple hospital sites in Southeast Queensland, your expertise will be key to successfully delivering this high-profile project.

As Senior Research Fellow / Project Coordinator - The GLOW trial, you'll take a strategic and operational leadership role across trial sites, ensuring high-quality data collection, stakeholder engagement, and research integrity. You'll also contribute to UniSC's broader research culture through mentoring, partnership building, and translating research into practice.

You will:

  • lead health research by coordinating and delivering a multi-site clinical trial in collaboration with external health and research partners;
  • drive impact by managing data collection, analysis, reporting and research outputs that directly benefit patients and healthcare systems;
  • build partnerships with health services, clinicians, and communities to ensure strong research translation and mutual value; and
  • mentor others by supporting early-career researchers and research students and contributing to UniSC's thriving research culture.

About you:

You're a highly skilled and motivated researcher with a passion for health system improvement and collaborative research. With a strong track record in applied health research, you understand the complexity of real-world healthcare environments and are adept at working across diverse stakeholder groups. You bring initiative, leadership, and a commitment to research that delivers meaningful outcomes for patients and clinicians.

You're also a skilled project manager, with the ability to oversee multi-site research activities, maintain data integrity, and meet timelines and reporting requirements. You thrive in team environments, communicate with clarity, and enjoy seeing your research lead to tangible change.

You will possess:

  • A doctoral qualification in a healthcare-related field;
  • A strong and established track record of impactful health research, including peer-reviewed publications, successful funding applications, and collaborative projects;
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating complex research projects involving multiple stakeholders, particularly within clinical or health service settings;
  • Experience working with clinical data and datasets, with demonstrated skills in data collection systems such as REDCap, and analysis tools including R or SPSS;
  • Proven ability to supervise and mentor research students or early-career researchers;
  • High-level organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines;
  • Sound leadership qualities and a collegial approach that fosters collaboration, innovation, and a positive academic environment;

Desirable:

  • Experience working within Queensland Health clinical systems, such as iEMR and surgical databases;
  • Postgraduate qualifications in research methods, public health, or implementation science;
  • Recognition for excellence in research or community engagement, internally or externally.
