
Fellow - Hepatology

An exciting opportunity exists for a Fellow (Hepatology). The Fellow (Hepatology) would be expected to attend 3-4 Hepatology clinics per week along with 1 gastroenterology clinic a fortnight. The Fellow will also perform 2 endoscopy lists per week ,1 of which is focussed on portal hypertension. The unit has an active research portfolio of investigator led and commercial clinical trials and the Fellow would be expected to contribute to clinical research and will be supported in developing their own projects. The Hepatology service at Sunshine Coast University Hospital provides comprehensive hepatology services to the population of the Sunshine Coast (450,000). There is a busy inpatient service which is supported by a ward based ambulatory care centre where day case procedures are provided (paracentesis, albumin infusions etc). Outpatients are seen in clinics on the Sunshine Coast and Nambour campuses. There are 3 fibroscan machines available and outpatient work is supported by a nursing team comprising 2 Clinical Nurses and 2 Clinical Nurse Consultants. We offer a full range of management options for patients with hepatocellular cancer supported by a dedicated HCC nurse and systemic therapy is managed by the Hepatology team.
Sunshine Coast Health is in southeast Queensland and extends through the coastal and hinterland areas from Caloundra in the south and Gympie in the north.

**Key Responsibilities include**:
Provision of Gastroenterology services to patients in accordance with the standards of the discipline and the ethics of the profession
Provision of Gastroenterology Services for patients that are consistent with the Clinical Services Capability Framework of the relevant facilities with the Health Service
Participate in the weekend and after-hours Endoscopy on-call roster
Provide safe and high-quality care to patients in accordance with the ethics and standards of the medical profession.
