IT Technical Lead – Data & Analytics | 11-Month Contract | Brisbane

Lead enterprise data solutions across a large digital transformation program.

We're seeking an experienced IT Technical Lead – Data & Analytics for an 11-month contract (24 November 2025 – 1 November 2026) based in Brisbane.

This role is part of a major government digital initiative focused on improving data quality, streamlining information management, and modernising technology systems to support service delivery across Queensland.

You'll be responsible for leading the design, development, and delivery of enterprise data solutions using Microsoft Fabric, SQL Server, ETL pipelines, and Power BI. This position combines hands-on technical expertise with leadership responsibilities to ensure scalable, secure, and high-performing data environments.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of enterprise data and analytics solutions using Microsoft Fabric and SQL
  • Develop and manage ETL pipelines ensuring quality, reliability, and consistency of data
  • Oversee the performance and optimisation of SQL databases and cloud data warehouses
  • Design and deliver Power BI dashboards and reports to support operational and strategic decision-making
  • Mentor and guide technical team members, maintaining best practices and quality standards
  • Implement data governance and security frameworks aligned with organisational policies
  • Collaborate with IT, business, and vendor teams to deliver projects to time, scope, and quality expectations

Skills & experience

  • Proven experience leading data and analytics projects within complex or government environments
  • Strong technical skills in Microsoft Fabric, SQL Server, Power BI, ETL frameworks, DAX, and T-SQL
  • Deep understanding of data architecture, data warehousing, and Azure-based solutions
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices in data environments
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Microsoft or Azure Data certifications highly regarded
