  • We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Speech Pathologist to join our team in a Senior Speech Pathology role
  • Fixed term position 23/09/25 - 26/08/26
  • Part-time position EFT)
  • Work allocation: Continuing Care or Acute Care

About the Speech Pathology Department

We have over 30 speech pathologists working across all three sites of Austin Health, in acute care, sub-acute care, rehabilitation and community programs. We function as one department and work in clinical teams in a supportive, friendly environment. Our work includes clinical services, research, quality and improvement, staff and student education.

About the role

This position may be based in our Continuing Care Stream in which case you will work as part of the stream under the guidance of the Grade 4 Sub-Acute stream leaders. The Continuing Care Stream provides services across two hospital campuses (Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital & Royal Talbot Rehabilitation Hospital and in home care via the Better @ Home Program).

This position may be based in our Acute and Ambulatory Care Stream in which case you will work as part of the stream under the guidance of the Acute stream leaders. The Acute and Ambulatory Care Stream provides services across two hospital campuses, including Emergency care, Critical Care, Acute in-patient services and Out-Patient swallowing and voice services.

A regular day will see you:

  • Undertaking swallowing assessments and therapy

  • Providing communication assessment or therapy

  • Attending a team meeting

  • Coordinating a quality activity

  • Providing supervision to another Speech Pathologist or Allied Health Assistant

About you

As one of the Senior Speech Pathologists, you will be someone who has excellent communication skills, with a strong commitment to excellence in patient care. You'll bring experience in leading a team and have a keen interest in developing your skillset.

  • Demonstrated clinical skills in assessment and management of communication and swallowing disorders
  • Demonstrated commitment to evidence-based practice and ability to translate this into practice
  • Demonstrated expertise in teaching, training and education
  • High level interpersonal skills that promote team development and engagement, and a proven ability to relate to people at all levels within an organisation
