About the Speech Pathology DepartmentThe Speech Pathology Department is committed to promoting the highest levels of care for our patients. In realising this goal, the department will lead and excel in research, teaching and the use of person-centred evidence-based practice. The department provides services on all three campuses of Austin Health

We have over 40 speech pathologists working across all three sites of Austin Health, in acute care, sub-acute care, rehabilitation and community programs. We function as one department and work in clinical teams in a supportive, friendly environment. Our work includes clinical services, research, quality and improvement, staff and student education.

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Speech Pathologist to join our team to fill a grade 2 role and to make a meaningful impact supporting patients, families and their carers

This position is initially based on the Austin site and will work as part of Acute stream under the guidance of the Grade 4 Acute stream leader.

In the course of a day, you may find yourself:

• Undertaking a swallowing assessment
• Working in the ICU or on our spinal multidisciplinary team
• Undertaking a videofluoroscopy
• Attending a team meeting
• Leading a quality activity

About youYou will be someone who has excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to excellence in patient care. You'll bring energy and drive to you work, and have a keen interest in leading others. You will have the ability to provide treatment for a wide variety of clinical conditions, and the desire to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
