Perth, Western Australia Anglicare WA Full time $500 per year
Aboriginal Advisory Group Vacancy - Pilbara Region

Anglicare WA has a vision for a just and fair Western Australia where everyone can thrive. Our purpose is to drive positive outcomes for those in need and challenge barriers to thriving. Working towards this vision and purpose requires us to directly challenge the barriers to thriving experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people [1] across Western Australia and to drive positive outcomes with Aboriginal clients.

The role of Anglicare WA Aboriginal Advisory Group

Our Aboriginal Advisory Group assist Anglicare WA to break new ground in our relationships and with the delivery of services to Aboriginal people and communities across Western Australia.  The group provides advice and guidance to the CEO and Executive of Anglicare WA on our relationships with Aboriginal Controlled Community Organisations and progressing Anglicare WA's Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) and Strategy 2030 initiatives. The group also provides feedback and guidance on Anglicare WA's policies and advocacy priorities.

Group Membership

Anglicare WA seek to appoint members on the Aboriginal Advisory Group, ensuring a mix of ages and geographic representation to reflect our service footprint.   We seek individuals with strong local community relationships, along with knowledge of their community and issues affecting them.

We are moving into a new strategic period, and we have 1 x Vacancy on the Aboriginal Advisory Committee for a member with community relationships and connections in the Pilbara region.

Membership is for three years, with an opportunity to renew for a further term.  The group meet at least four times per year to provide advice to the CEO and Executive, and once a year with the Board. Meetings can be in person in East Perth or in a regional location in WA, or via video conference where necessary. There may also be ad hoc discussions between meetings depending on a member's areas of expertise.  Members will be paid $500 per meeting and associated travel expenses, or out-of-pocket costs will be covered, including flights, accommodation or transfers to attend meetings.

Organisational Support

Anglicare WA have put robust structures in place to ensure that we listen to and act upon the valuable feedback and guidance received from the Aboriginal Advisory Group. This includes the appointment of a Director, Aboriginal Engagement who sits on our Executive, a General Manager, Aboriginal Service Development, and an Aboriginal Engagement Lead who provides operational support to engage Aboriginal stakeholders, internal and external.

We also have an internal RAP Committee, chaired by a member of the Executive, to oversee the implementation of our Stretch RAP.

How to apply

If you are interested in joining this committed group of purpose driven community members, including respected elders, leaders and aspiring change makers, please submit a letter to the Chair, Anglicare WA Aboriginal Advisory Group, addressing why you are interested in joining the Anglicare WA Aboriginal Advisory Group and what experience you would you bring to this role in your application.

Selection is based on the skills, knowledge, community connection(s) and the experience the applicant will bring to the committee, as per the Aboriginal Advisory Group's role (see above). Once we hear from you, we will be in touch to talk about your interest.

Applications close 24 August 2025.

If you require further information, a copy of the Anglicare WA Aboriginal Advisory Group Terms of Reference or assistance in applying, please contact Leone Cottam-Williams, Director, Aboriginal Engagement, via  .
