About the Centre/Service

For more than 100 years Lilian Cannam Kindergarten (LCK) has provided a large outdoor sanctuary for inner city children and a connection to our local environment and community. We are renowned for our innovative, play based programs that are guided by a child's interests and their connection to the natural environment and local community. Our educational philosophy ensures we remain socially relevant, intellectually engaging and meaningful to children and families. We provide specialist classes in the visual arts, music and French language program. LCK acknowledges the Yalukit-Willam Clan of the Kulin Nation as the traditional custodians of the land on which we play, teach and learn. We engage children in thinking and learning about First Nations perspectives and how these connect with their developing understanding of the world. Work Days of the Role

Monday, Thursday and Friday with the option of relief work on other days

Description

The Educator will be an essential part of the teaching team, working collaboratively with teachers, children and families to deliver high quality, stimulating, collaboratively developed programs that support opportunities for growth in all areas of cognitive, social, emotional, language and physical development. We strive to foster a love of learning through playful, hands-on involvement and provide a foundation of respect, responsibility, care and compassion.

Qualifications

This is 12 month part-time contract role with leave entitlements from 27 January 2026. The role reports directly to the Director and the Committee of Management. The successful candidate will have:

  • A passion for early childhood education
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with educators, parents, children, and the wider community
  • Strong sense of teamwork and a collaborative approach to work
  • Understanding of the National Quality Framework, VEYLDF, and National Laws and Regulations
  • Understanding of the Child Safe Standards and Reportable Conduct Scheme
  • Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care (or equivalent as approved by ACECQA)
  • Working with Children Check
  • Mandatory Reporting Certificate
  • Current first aid, CPR, anaphylaxis and asthma management training
