Guidepost Global Education (GGE) is a leading provider of world-class education, dedicated to nurturing the potential of every child. We operate the world's largest Montessori network, under brand 'Guidepost Montessori' and 'Nest Pre-school' with more than 100 schools across the United States and Asia. We are committed to building teams that are passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and families, fostering an environment where our educators and staff can thrive and grow.
We are thrilled to be launching our first Australian campus in Melbourne in 2026, bringing high-fidelity Montessori education and exceptional service to the local community.
Role Overview:
Join us as part of the founding team and be at the heart of our inaugural Australian school. This is a unique opportunity for a language specialist to integrate authentic English and Mandarin immersion into a model Montessori environment from the very beginning. You will work collaboratively with our Montessori Guides to create a rich, bilingual setting that fosters a child's natural language acquisition and cultural appreciation. This role is perfect for a dedicated educator who wants to build a strong community and set the standard for early childhood language education in Melbourne.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver Immersive Language Support:
- Provide rich, consistent language exposure in English OR Mandarin throughout the daily routine, in alignment with Montessori principles.
- Collaborate with the Montessori Guide to present lessons and support children's learning in your domain languages.
- Model clear and precise language for children, expanding their vocabulary in a natural and contextualized manner.
- Help create and maintain a bilingual environment that reflects both languages and cultures.
Support the Montessori Classroom:
- Provide careful supervision to ensure children's safety and adhere to Victoria's mandated teacher-to-child ratios at all times.
- Observe each child closely, documenting their progress and interests, and share observations with the Lead Guide to help meet individual needs.
- Guide children with warmth, respect, and joy, fostering their innate desire for independence and learning.
- Assist in maintaining a beautiful, orderly, safe, and nurturing Montessori-prepared environment.
Build Strong Partnerships with Families & Community:
- Communicate regularly with parents in a personalised manner using our approved tools (e.g., photo-sharing software, newsletters).
- Provide formal, cumulative feedback through twice-yearly parent-teacher conferences, progress reports, and student portfolios.
- Meet with parents as needed to discuss their child's development and build strong, trusting relationships.
- Participate in and help host community events, classroom celebrations, and parent education evenings.
Professional Collaboration & Growth:
- Actively implement feedback from your Montessori Guide, Montessori Mentor and the Head of School to refine your practice.
- Participate in problem-solving challenging student situations with the support of your leadership team.
- Engage in regular staff meetings, one-on-one meetings, and annual professional development.
- Pursue ongoing learning to deepen your Montessori practice and pedagogical knowledge.
Qualifications and Experience
- A Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) or equivalent, meeting the requirements for VIT (Victorian Institute of Teaching) registration as an Early Childhood Teacher. OR A Certificate III or Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care (or equivalent).
- Native or fluent English OR Mandarin Speaker
- Experience working with children of the appropriate age group (0-6 years)
- An understanding of, or willingness to train in, Montessori principles and practices.
- Growth mindset and problem-solving approach
