The Role

We're currently seeking a Laboratory Technician to carry out water quality testing and support the day-to-day operations of our laboratory. 

This role involves performing chemical and microbiological testing, maintaining quality standards, and working collaboratively with the team to ensure accurate and timely results. You'll also contribute to a safe and well-organised laboratory environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conduct chemical and microbiological testing in line with NATA 17025 and the Laboratory Quality Manual, under the guidance of Senior Laboratory Technician.
  • Carry out general laboratory duties including equipment calibration, quality control, and reporting of non-conformances.
  • Participate in proficiency testing, audits, and training to support continuous improvement.
  • Assist with laboratory housekeeping, stock control, and sample coordination.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to support timely delivery of results.
  • Follow all safety procedures and contribute to a safe working environment for yourself and others.

What we're looking for

We're looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to join our Water and Environment Services team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on laboratory work, values accuracy, and is committed to maintaining high standards in a collaborative environment.

  • Bachelor of Science or Diploma of Laboratory Technology, or equivalent experience in a laboratory setting
  • Current C class driver's licence
  • Experience with bench work and a commitment to quality laboratory practices
  • The ability to perform manual handling tasks and work safely with chemicals and biological materials
  • Strong focus on safety, accuracy, and teamwork

The Details

This is a fixed-term fulltime contract until 10th October 2026 that will be based in Hobart. The roleattracts a salary of $96, $102, inclusive of superannuation), negotiable dependent on experience.
