Events & Communications Officer

The Global Health Security Network (GHSN) is a non-profit organisation dedicated to strengthening global health security through research, collaboration, and knowledge-sharing. We convene experts, policymakers, and practitioners to address the most pressing global health challenges - including through our flagship Global Health Security Conference.
We're seeking an Events and Communications Coordinator for a full-time, 12-month contract to support the planning, delivery, and promotion of GHSN's key programs and initiatives. You'll combine event management, marketing, and stakeholder engagement skills to help deliver meaningful outcomes in a global, fast-paced environment.
Key ResponsibilitesEvent Coordination & Logistics
- Support planning and delivery of virtual, hybrid, and in-person events
- Liaise with venues, vendors, and AV teams to ensure seamless event execution
- Manage delegate registration, speaker liaison, and travel logistics
- Maintain event timelines, budgets, and project trackers
- Provide on-site support during major conferences and meetings
Marketing & Communications
- Manage GHSN's website, social media, and email communications
- Develop marketing campaigns to promote events and partnerships
- Create branded materials, newsletters, and press releases
- Monitor analytics and engagement to inform future strategies
Membership & Stakeholder Engagement
- Maintain the membership database (CRM) and support member communications
- Coordinate engagement activities and networking opportunities
- Respond to member, sponsor, and partner enquiries professionally
Administrative & Project Support
- Provide administrative support to the CEO and COO
- Assist with sponsorship coordination and reporting
- Prepare reports, agendas, and meeting notes
- Support board and partner briefings with documentation and summaries
- Minimum 2+ years' experience in event coordination, marketing, communications, or project management
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in health and/or science communication (desirable)
- Experience using event management software (e.g., EventsAir), CRM systems, and marketing platforms
- Familiarity with WildApricot, WordPress, Asana, Canva, or similar tools
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a global, fast-paced environment
- Creative problem-solving skills with a proactive, can-do attitude
- Passion for global health, international development, or non-profit communications (desirable)
- Understanding of LMIC engagement and accessibility planning for global events (desirable)
- Full-time, 12-month contract– potential for extension
