About this opportunity

This position facilitates the delivery of timely, accurate and generalist human resource (HR) support across Council. Your responsibilities will include to work in partnership with Council's Portfolios in administering processes related to the employment lifecycle, industrial relations queries, performance management, employee investigations and discipline and employee engagement activities.

Additionally, you'll also …

  • Provide high quality and proactive customer service, delivering consistent, proactive, and accurate HR advisory and processing services throughout Council.
  • Champion a positive and engaged workplace culture, facilitate change and consultation, and champion high levels of integrity, equity, performance and service delivery across Council.
  • Provide professional advice and guidance on industrial relations matters, including interpretation of legislation, awards, certified agreement, policy and procedure, to ensure compliance and best practice.
  • Case manage internal and external grievances and complaints related to human resource matters, including conducting internal investigations, identifying systemic issues, and preparing and/or reviewing preliminary assessments, investigation reports, recommendations and correspondence.
  • Support management and employees with complex employment and performance matters, reinforcing Council's Values in every situation.
  • Administer employment lifecycle processes including populating position descriptions, advertising vacancies, managing the jobs inbox, and coordinating selection processes, employment screening, offer of employment, onboarding, probation, higher duties, secondment and cessation activities.

About you…

  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resource Management, Employment Relations, or a related field with demonstrated broad experience in a Human Resources generalist role.
  • Demonstrated experience providing HR services ideally within a complex, multi-occupational workforce.
  • Proven ability to exercise responsibility for work functions, prioritise activities and manage workflow within a high volume work environment meeting deadlines and maintaining the integrity of processes.
  • Digital literacy including working knowledge of HR information systems, e-recruitment platforms and the Microsoft Suite.
  • Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle under a C Class Licence.
