Role Description

This is a volunteer, remote-working position. The
WeChat Engagement Coordinator
will play a valued role in helping ACI connect with Chinese-speaking audiences through WeChat. You'll be assisting ACI with managing ACI's presence on WeChat, including content creation, audience engagement, and analytics tracking.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Creating posts and advertisements to raise awareness of ACI
  • Building and maintaining relationships with ACI's Chinese-speaking audience
  • Analysing user metrics and engagement trends
  • Ensuring culturally sensitive communication
  • Translating key messages (if bilingual)
  • Monitoring community feedback
  • Contributing to ACI's broader digital engagement strategies

Commitment:
Flexible (2–4 hours/week). Initially, there may be additional work involved in
configuring ACI's WeChat account profile.
Although ACI already has an official WeChat account, it has not yet been actively used.

Ideal Volunteer profile:

  • Experience in using WeChat - both personal and official accounts.
  • Knowledge in configuring WeChat account profiles
  • Skills in WeChat content creation, community engagement, and analytics tracking
  • Strong communication skills in both Mandarin and English, with the ability to translate and localise content effectively
  • Experience in social media strategy, audience engagement, and content planning
  • Familiarity with Australia–China relations, cultural nuances, and communication ethics
  • Prior experience in media, communications, or public relations is an advantage
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Media Studies, International Relations, or a related field is preferred
  • Care about Australia-China relations and public diplomacy
  • Ability to work independently and reliably
