Our energy future is being transformed by technological innovations that will deliver more sustainable outcomes, bringing greater energy security and affordability to businesses and communities.
Our power team works throughout Australasia on iconic projects that are shaping the energy transition journey to net-zero carbon emissions. We deliver innovative technical solutions to our clients in high voltage power generation, transmission, and distribution.
The Opportunity
Join us in shaping the future of Australia's energy landscape As a Principal Engineer specializing in substations, you'll play a pivotal role in designing and delivering critical substation infrastructure that underpins the transmission network. You'll contribute to enabling new renewable energy zones and supporting Australia's transition to clean energy by working on some of the country's largest and most high-profile tier-one substation projects.
In this role, you'll lead complex substation designs, ensuring they meet the highest technical standards while managing project delivery. You'll also have the opportunity to mentor and inspire the next generation of engineers, sharing your expertise to help them grow into future leaders.
Be part of a vibrant, supportive, and flexible work environment where your expertise will drive meaningful change in Australia's energy future.
About You
Your technical skills are grounded in strong fundamentals and have been demonstrated through the delivery of robust and innovative substation engineering designs. You are confident in leading design teams and have a passion for coaching and mentoring emerging engineers.
Beyond substation engineering, you possess a broader range of skills that enable you to contribute to the power business more holistically. This will be combined with your deep understanding of various engineering disciplines, industry regulations, policies, and procedures, as well as your project management expertise and experience in integrating complex systems.
Knowledge and experience in software tools such as ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, or similar engineering design platforms is required.
Preferably, you will have proven capability across a range of the following areas:
- Significant experience in developing substation designs for high voltage electricity networks
- Ability to work collaboratively with others to deliver as part of a team
- Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to work effectively with a team of engineers and designers (locally and/or internationally) to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget
- Proven ability to manage client expectations while building strong relationships to achieve successful outcomes for all stakeholders
- A track record of delivering successful project outcomes
- Any consultancy experience is advantageous but not essential
- Playing a key leadership role in networking to help drive and grow the substation portfolio
