Your role within Social and Affordable Housing Growth will support the department to deliver safe and secure social housing to assist Queenslanders who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. The work you will do helps someone every day and that means the world to us.
Through partnerships, Social and Affordable Housing Growth provides and influences the provision of safe, secure, affordable and appropriate housing to the people of Queensland, and the building of vibrant and connected precincts and communities in which they live. We influence, plan, design, procure and contract the delivery of contemporary housing solutions that meet the needs of our clients, reflect local community needs, and support jobs in regional Queensland. We maintain, upgrade and renew a housing portfolio of over 74,000 dwellings to ensure our tenants are safe, secure and in housing that continues to meet their needs. We are committed to the successful delivery of public housing and assisting Queenslanders who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
What you will be doing:
- Work collaboratively, with internal and external stakeholders, to coordinate and drive innovative best practice planning outcomes for the state's social housing portfolio.
- Proactively engage with councils, community groups and other key stakeholders to drive conversations about strategic social housing projects and resolve potential planning barriers.
- Lead community engagement and consultation processes for the development and approval of social housing projects.
- Coordinate, facilitate and chair meetings, forums, committees and negotiations with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders and data custodians. Foster productive working relationships to ensure the successful delivery of social housing.
- Identify and manage planning constraints and opportunities for complex projects and sites, while contributing to the strategic vision of housing outcomes, utilising and implementing contemporary project management approaches.
- Lead strategic 'first principles' approaches to integrating complex planning considerations for project feasibility and planning to meet social housing targets.
- Support and help maintain a workplace safety culture by ensuring that all policies and practices concerning Workplace Health and Safety are applied and a part of day-to-day operations.
