The role

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a kitchen hand to join our Catering team located in our Melbourne office on a full time basis. Flexibility in hours will be required from time to time (after hours functions – breakfasts and dinners).

Working with the Executive Chef, in this role you will utilize your passion for food to produce a variety of food options (formal and informal) for our staff and corporate clients.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assist in the preparation of food for :
    • Client functions and events;
    • Staff events, including morning and afternoon teas;
    • Working lunches; and
    • Our on-site café.
  • Dishwashing and ensuring timely clean up of equipment.
  • Ensure food preparation areas and associated equipment meet appropriate standards of cleanliness.
  • Comply with all Melbourne City Council health requirements.
  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of programs.

Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Relevant food safety qualifications and min 2 years full time experience in a kitchen
  • Experience in corporate kitchens would be highly regarded;
  • Passion for producing high quality food;
  • Strong work ethic and an ability to remain calm under pressure;
  • Excellent team work skills;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Unwavering adherence to and enforcement of health and hygiene standards; and
  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills.
