What's the role?

We're growing our eCommerce content team and looking for a Shopping Writer to join us at News Corp Australia. In this role you'll create and optimise shopping stories across Checkout, Taste, Escape, Body+Soul and more — helping millions of Australians shop smarter.

We're looking for a passionate, curious and performance-driven writer who can craft engaging stories, optimise them for SEO and affiliates and identify what makes people tick — and click.

You'll cover a wide range of topics, from home appliances and headphones to hyaluronic acid, home sales and deals. You'll also take on responsibility for optimising and expanding existing content to maximise reach, relevance and revenue.

Key Responsibilities:

Content creation: Write new, engaging and revenue-driving shopping stories, including coverage of major sales events (EOFY, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Prime Day, Christmas, Boxing Day).
Optimisation: Manage, update and expand existing articles to drive stronger performance; target SEO, trends and culture gaps; use traffic, conversion and affiliate data to refine output.
Ideas & growth: Pitch story and campaign ideas in planning meetings; contribute new formats and approaches to diversify revenue streams; bring subject-matter expertise to your vertical.
Collaboration: Work closely with editorial, SEO, commercial, social and video teams to connect shopping content across platforms (including EDMs, socials and shoppable video).
Industry representation: Attend launches, events and famils on behalf of News Corp, building networks and ensuring we're across the latest products and trends.

Who are you?

  • Previous experience writing clean, authoritative and engaging digital content at pace (minimum 2 years).

  • Knowledge of what makes for high-quality, clickable shopping content and how to balance editorial integrity with performance goals.

  • Grasp of SEO principles and confidence working in CMS platforms.

  • Organised and methodical with a creative, collaborative mindset.

  • Ability to meet deadlines, juggle priorities and thrive under pressure.

  • Comfortable appearing on-camera for shopping video content.

  • A self-starter who spots opportunities, takes initiative and wants to directly accelerate the growth of News Corp's eCommerce business.

  • Desirable: newsroom experience, familiarity with affiliates, editing social video.
