Cahill Transport is seeking a Victorian Workshop Manager to lead, coordinate, and continuously improve workshop operations across Victoria, supporting both our fleet and valued customers.

With the completion of our new Victorian workshop in Laverton North, Cahill Transport now operates one of the most advanced heavy-vehicle servicing facilities in Australia. Delivered as a full turnkey solution, this workshop has been purpose-built to support a modern, high-volume transport fleet with premium equipment and smart systems that make the job easier, cleaner, and more efficient.

This is a pivotal leadership role where safety, compliance, operational performance, and people leadership come together in a fast-paced transport environment.

What You'll Be Doing

As the Victorian Workshop Manager, you will have accountability for the day-to-day and strategic management of the Victorian workshop, ensuring all assets are maintained to the highest standards of safety, compliance, and efficiency.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading daily workshop operations including scheduling, technician allocation, workflow efficiency, and two-shift rostering.
  • Managing preventative maintenance and repairs for company-owned and customer assets.
  • Ensuring compliance with NHVAS, CoR, AIS, WHS, and legislative requirements.
  • Monitoring performance, profitability, labour recovery, parts margins, and efficiency metrics.
  • Preparing weekly and monthly performance reports.
  • Managing defects, roadworthy inspections, breakdowns, and after-hours callouts.
  • Implementing and maintaining SOPs for servicing, repairs, inspections, and safety.
  • Leading, mentoring, and developing mechanics, apprentices, and trade assistants.
  • Conducting toolbox talks, Take 5s, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
  • Managing inventory, tooling, calibration, purchase orders, and cost controls.
  • Supporting third-party workshop services and customer relationships.
  • Working closely with operations, fleet, compliance, and leadership teams to maximise asset uptime.

Cahill Transport's new facility is a clean, modern, well-laid-out workshop with premium equipment, built to support quality workmanship and reduce downtime.

  • Fully integrated lubricant, air and fluid reticulation with wireless oil management and digital tracking.
  • 30-metre prefabricated service pit, featuring:

     o MAHA in-ground brake tester.

     o Suspension play detector and dual shakers.

     o Rolling pit jacks, ventilation system and integrated lubrication alcove.
  • Stertil Koni 25-tonne Skylift with dual jacking frames.
  • High-flow oil, grease, air and water delivery via stainless-steel reticulation.
  • Graco Pulse wireless oil guns for accurate, user-specific dispensing.
  • RAASM hose reel gantries servicing oil, grease, air and water points.
  • Drive-through truck wash facility.
  • On-site 5-scale weighbridge.

What You'll Bring

You're a hands-on, solution-focused leader who thrives in a safety-first environment.

You'll bring:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience managing medium to large fleet or workshop operations.
  • Previous workshop management experience within transport or logistics.
  • Mechanical trade qualifications.
  • Experience with software-based fleet maintenance systems.
  • Strong understanding of NHVAS, CoR, HSE, and compliance frameworks.
  • Proven people leadership, stakeholder engagement, and reporting capability.
  • A proactive, organised, and commercially minded approach.
