About the Role

As a Senior Software Engineer at Babcock, you'll play a key role in delivering cutting-edge communications systems that support mission-critical operations around the world.

You'll work as part of a highly skilled, globally distributed engineering team, contributing to all phases of the software development lifecycle – from requirement derivation and system design through to coding, integration, testing, and deployment.

You'll provide technical leadership across software design, development, and verification activities, applying your engineering expertise to solve complex problems.

Working within Agile delivery frameworks, you'll help drive improvements in processes, mentor less experienced engineers, and take ownership of software builds and releases.

About You

You're an experienced and motivated software engineer with a deep understanding of software development practices and a strong track record of delivering high-quality technical outcomes.

You bring proven capability in leading software teams or initiatives, and you're comfortable working with complex systems that require a methodical, safety-focused approach.

Your collaborative mindset and mentoring experience mean you thrive in team environments, and you enjoy supporting the growth and development of junior engineers.

To be successful in this position you will bring:

 

  • Extensive experience working in Software Development
  • Proven experience of C++, C, Python
  • Understanding and experience of Object-Oriented Programming
  • An understanding of Agile Software Engineering best practices
  • Experience with making engineering and architecture design decisions
  • Experience with a modern IDE such as VS code and Visual Studio 2022
  • Understanding of static code analysis tools
  • Experience with windows Visual Studio C++ Toolkits for development
  • Understanding of DevOps and Automated Testing
  • Understanding of both Agile and Waterfall development methodologies
