The Role

We're looking for a Full Stack Developer, with a strong focus on back-end development, to help maintain and enhance our custom-built software platform. This system supports critical operations like metering, billing, and customer management, and it's central to our success as we scale.

You'll be using modern tools, including AI-assisted coding, to build features, streamline workflows, and improve system performance.

What You'll Do

• Enhance and maintain our existing meter reading and billing system
• Improve data integration, quality, and overall system scalability
• Collaborate with the customer administration team to resolve pain points
• Design and build new features to support our growing user base
• Improve automation (including AI) and the customer journey across our platforms
• Contribute ideas for longer-term upgrades, refactoring, and performance improvements

What We're Looking For

Technical Skills

• Proficient in PHP 8.x and solid object-oriented programming principles

• Strong experience with Laravel, including:

• Creating and managing Web and API routes

• Developing custom service classes
• Using Eloquent ORM, writing migrations, and managing models
• Deep knowledge of MySQL/MariaDB, with the ability to write and optimize complex queries
• Experience working with MongoDB (NoSQL)

• Front-end development experience, including:

• , native JavaScript, and jQuery

• CSS preprocessors like Sass or Less
• Familiarity with build tools like npm and Webpack
• Experience with RESTful API development and integration
• Any experience administrating AWS services, e.g. EC2, SES, & RDS a plus
• Proficient in Git for version control (Bitbucket experience is a plus)

General Skills

• Strong problem-solving and debugging abilities
• Able to work independently and manage your own time
• Diligent in producing robust and security-mindful code
• Keen to improve processes through automation and smarter tooling
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
• Interest in using AI tools to increase productivity and code quality
