  • $38.65 per hour (SCHADS Level 3B) + Leave loading + salary packaging benefits

  • Change lives, empower young people, and be part of a team that genuinely cares.

About the Program

The YCLSS program supports the recovery of young people living with mental illness through tailored, community-based psychosocial support. It aims to reduce the risk of long-term disability and minimise the need for frequent or extended hospital stays.

We help young people stay connected with family, friends and community; engage in education, work and meaningful activities; build healthy habits; and secure stable housing. The program also supports families to better understand and assist their young person's recovery, while accessing help for their own wellbeing needs.

About the Role
As a Peer Recovery Worker, you'll use your own lived experience of mental health challenges and recovery to inspire hope and connection. You'll walk alongside young people on their recovery journey—offering empathy, encouragement and practical support to help them build confidence, resilience and self-management skills.

Working as part of the integrated YLCSS team, you'll support participants to develop key life skills including social connection, decision making, leadership, teamwork, healthy living and community involvement. You'll also help strengthen natural supports and facilitate Wellways' peer learning programs.

You don't need to know everything from day one, we will support you to learn and grow. What matters most is your passion for working with young people and your willingness to walk alongside them, even when the journey isn't easy.

Ideally, you'll bring:

  • A contemporary understanding of mental health and recovery-oriented practice (or a strong interest in developing this knowledge)

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

  • Flexibility, creativity and the ability to adapt to the changing needs of young people

  • A commitment to learning and development through supervision, training, and reflection

You will also need:

  • Completion of the Certificate 4 in Mental Health, Certificate 4 in Mental Health Peer/Work or Certificate 4 in Community Services or equivalent practical experience working in a mental health role.

  • Right to work within Australia

  • Current valid Driver's Licence and the ability to undertake some travel

  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate (free online course)

  • Satisfactory National Police Records Check

  • NDIS Worker Screening Check

  • Working with Children's Check (Employee/Paid)

What we can offer you:

  • A purpose driven culture where people can thrive, everyone is respected, and differences are valued

  • An equitable, diverse, and socially inclusive work environment

  • Salary packaging up to $15,899 enables you to spend a portion of your salary before it is taxed to pay for things like rent, mortgage repayments, car leasing

  • Paid parental leave after 12 months of ongoing employment
