The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a Senior Analyst, Payments & Reporting to provide a critical role within Police, Racing, Victims & Coordination
About the Business Unit
The FAS represents a major leap forward in government's response to victims of crime. Established under the Victims of Crime (Financial Assistance Scheme) Act 2022, the FAS provides financial assistance through a simple and easy to navigate process that is fair, sensitive, and responsive to victims' needs. The FAS aims to acknowledge harm done and be trauma informed, inclusive and culturally safe.
About the Role
You will undertake ongoing financial reconciliation, reporting and analysis including preparation of monthly budget variance reports and forecasts and ad hoc financial reports as required in relation to the Financial Assistance Scheme while also identifying and escalating issues and look for opportunities to improve processes and outcomes and identify potential practical solutions to problems.
Some of your duties will include:
- Support month-end and year-end closing procedures by ensuring all financial transactions are captured accurately and that it meets compliance with relevant policies and procedures and all governance and accountability standards are met.
- Provide strategic, authoritative, and evidence-based advice to the senior managers to support the development of budgets, strategic and business planning, risk management strategies, change and project management activities.
- Prepare briefs, reports, service plans and recommendations on complex issues which are clear, exhaustive, and provide strong support for a preferred position or action.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Technical Expertise
- Demonstrated experience in leading finance, payment, and business support functions with excellent knowledge of the application of government accounting and financial legislation, policies, processes, and budget/reporting cycles, preferably within a state government environment or similar.
- Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in the application of the Oracle Financial System and Axiom budget management system (Desirable).Experience producing a wide variety of analytical reports and other products to a variety of audiences (e.g. including senior executives) that utilise a broad range of data and data sources to deliver highly valuable insights that meet agreed stakeholder requirements.
Qualifications
Hold a tertiary qualification(s) in commerce, finance or a related discipline
Completion of the Membership of the Australian Society of CPA's or the Australian Institute of Chartered Accountants program would be an advantage.
