Bushfire Management Planner (BPAD Level 3) – Casual / Contract

Militem Fire & Rescue is seeking an experienced and accredited BPAD Level 3 Bushfire Management Planner to join our growing team on a casual or contract basis.

Working directly with our CEO, you'll play a critical role in the development of Fire Management and Bushfire Management Plans for renewable energy and infrastructure projects across Victoria. You'll bring technical expertise, practical insight, and leadership in bushfire planning and assessment to ensure compliance, safety, and operational readiness.

This is an
immediate start opportunity
with a short project timeline. The position will be removed once a suitable candidate is engaged, so early applications are strongly encouraged.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the CEO to develop and review Fire Management and Bushfire Management Plans for renewable energy and infrastructure sites.
  • Oversee and validate bushfire planning works in accordance with BPAD Level 3 accreditation standards.
  • Prepare and issue Bushfire Management Statements (BMS) and provide oversight for developments within Bushfire Management Overlay (BMO) areas.
  • Provide expert technical advice on bushfire risk, site design, and mitigation strategies, including those involving Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
  • Liaise with local authorities, planning consultants, and the CFA to ensure compliance and smooth project progression.
  • Mentor internal staff and assist in building Militem Fire & Rescue's future bushfire planning capability.
  • Contribute to upcoming projects as Militem continues to expand its national footprint.

Qualifications

  • BPAD Level 3 Accreditation (Essential).
  • Proven experience preparing Bushfire Management Plans and Statements within Victoria.
  • Strong understanding of AS 3959, CFA Renewable Energy Facility Guidelines, and broader bushfire planning frameworks.
  • Demonstrated experience working with local councils and CFA.
  • Excellent communication, reporting, and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage tight project deadlines.
  • Availability to commence immediately.
