Are you a hands-on, detail-oriented Mechanical Fitter with a passion for precision engineering? Do you want to work for a world-leading Australian machine manufacturer with global projects?

At AW Bell Machinery, you'll be responsible for the manufacture of components and assembly of industrial machines for a range of high-profile industries, including aerospace, Defence, and medical manufacturing.

This full-time, ongoing role gives you the opportunity to work across the entire spectrum of machine fitting, from assembly to commissioning, testing, and installations. You'll be supported by an experienced and collaborative team, with plenty of opportunities to expand your skills, take on more responsibility, and even travel internationally to install and service machines (primarily in the USA).

This role is ideal for a recently qualified tradesperson, final-year apprentice or someone in the early stages of their career who is looking to learn, grow, and get stuck into meaningful work.

What you'll be doing:

As a Mechanical Fitter, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Machine assembly including structural components, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, motors, power trains and bearings

  • Commissioning and testing of machines

  • Occasional manufacture of components to specifications using manual milling machines and lathes

  • Occasional MIG welding of steel components

  • Occasional electrical wiring of machine components

  • Assist with research and development (R&D) activities

  • Manufacturing fixtures

  • Maintain all equipment to safety and housekeeping requirements.

  • On-site service & installation support to customers, including international travel

What you bring:

We're looking for someone who is hands-on, passionate, and takes pride in their work. You're reliable, a great communicator, and enjoy working in a team as well as independently. You thrive in a high-quality, precision-focused environment and are eager to continuously learn and improve.

In addition to this, as our ideal candidate, you have the following experience, knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • experience as a mechanical fitter

  • strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail

  • mechanical assembly experience

  • ability to use power and hand tools as well as other machines and equipment

  • able to read and interpret mechanical drawings and work orders

  • commitment to workplace safety and quality

  • problem-solving mindset and attention to detail

  • team player with a great work ethic

  • strong working knowledge of:

    • machine assembly (structural, bearings, power transmissions)

    • hydraulics / pneumatics

    • conventional machining

    • electrical wiring

    • PLC programming and fault finding (prior experience beneficial)

Desirable (but not required):

  • Trade qualification (e.g., Fitter & Turner or similar)

  • Experience with PLC programming and fault finding
