About The Role

Join us at the forefront of Xero's developer-productivity revolution Engineering X is dedicated to reducing developer toil and elevating the engineering experience across Xero.
LaunchCrew
is one of its core pods, driving two strategic workstreams:

Agentic AI/MCP
(primary): a suite of multi-agent servers, shared prompt libraries and AI gateways that embed intelligent automation directly into developers' daily workflows.

Accelerator
(secondary): our .NET-based scaffolding framework for rapid API, worker and service bootstrapping.

As a
Software Engineer
on LaunchCrew, you'll prototype, build and productionize AI-driven developer tools—working predominantly in Python, with occasional TypeScript and .NET touchpoints. You'll collaborate with engineering teams, Education partners and other stakeholders to ensure your solutions are robust, well-documented and seamlessly integrated into Xero's CI/CD pipelines.

What You'll Do

• Prototype Agentic AI & MCP to Impact:
  Rapidly spin up AI-powered developer workflows (e.g., code generation, issue triage, dependency analysis), validate them, then harden successful spikes into production-ready components.
• Build Shared AI Infrastructure:
  Create and maintain prompt libraries, CLI tooling and CI/CD pipelines that make agentic capabilities plug-and-play for engineering teams.
• Collaborate Across Disciplines:
  Partner with engineers, SRE and Platform teams to gather requirements, refine designs and champion adoption.
• Integrate & Automate:
  Build shared prompt libraries, CLI tooling and CI/CD pipelines that make it trivial for engineers to adopt and extend agentic capabilities within their existing workflows.
• Ensure Reliability & Observability:
  Instrument your components with metrics and logging to monitor performance, usage and stability at scale.
• Support Accelerator Evolutions:
  Contribute to our .NET-based scaffolding framework where needed—helping maintain templates, libraries and deploy automation.
• Continuous Exploration:
  Stay curious—research emerging AI/ML frameworks, run spike prototypes, share learnings and recommend improvements.

What You'll Bring

• Python Expertise:
  2+ years building production-grade Python services or AI integrations.
• .NET Familiarity:
  Comfortable reading and contributing to C#/.NET Core libraries and CLI tools.
• Agentic Algorithms Experience:
  Hands-on implementation of multi-agent or search/optimization algorithms, with an ability to balance research requirements and practical constraints (on-device inference, LLM training).
• Cloud & DevOps Proficiency:
  Experience with Azure or AWS, Docker/Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code to automate build, test and deploy processes.
• Curious & Collaborative Spirit:
  You're eager to learn unfamiliar systems, dive into legacy code, debug cross-language integrations and partner closely with other engineering teams.
• User-Centric Mindset:
  Ability to translate feedback from end users and stakeholders into robust, maintainable solutions that drive real time-savings.
• Collaborative Communicator:
  You share insights openly, coach peers on new tools and thrive in cross-functional teams.
