About the Role

We are urgently seeking
3–4 experienced
Welding/Coating Inspectors to join a major defense project in Osborne Park, South Australia. This is a
full-time contract role
for an initial period of
6 months
, with the potential to extend to 12 months or more.

As part of the
Hunter Class Frigate
program, you will play a key role in
welding and coating inspections
within a high-standard fabrication/manufacturing facility. This opportunity is ideal for
freelance professionals
looking for a secure long-term engagement in a prestigious defense project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections on hull structures, welding, and coatings to ensure compliance with project specifications and defense quality standards.
  • Document and report inspection findings in accordance with client requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to maintain quality assurance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Maintain strict adherence to safety and security protocols.

Requirements

  • Need to be
    based in
    Adelaide/South Australia
  • Recognized
    trade qualification
    in hull inspection or related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years
    trade experience in fabrication/manufacturing inspection, preferably within the defense or marine sectors.
  • IWI-B Certified Welding Inspector,
    or

CSWIP 3.1,
or

BINDT PCN Level 2,
or

AWS Certified Inspector - Required
- NACE CIP 2
or

FROSIO 3,
and

AMPP Marine Coating Technologist – Desirable
- Shipyard/shipbuild experience - Desirable
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication and reporting skills.
