About the opportunity

Are you passionate about making a difference in the community? Do you thrive on building relationships and creating inclusive spaces for engagement? Healthdirect Australia is looking for a dedicated Community Engagement Manager to lead the establishment and ongoing management of our Consumer Reference Panel.

In this role, you will ensure that consumers' voices and lived experiences shape the design, delivery, and improvement of our services. You will be responsible for coordinating consumer participation, from invitations and onboarding through to follow-up and feedback, ensuring every touchpoint feels supportive and valued.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build Strong Connections: Foster trusted relationships with consumers, community organisations, and peak bodies. Lead inclusive 1:1 and small-group engagements that deliver meaningful impact, and ensure stakeholders see how their input shapes decisions.
  • Run Panel Operations: Manage recruitment, onboarding, and administration for our Consumer Reference Panel. Keep records and consumer profiles accurate, oversee scheduling and payments, and support internal teams to access consumer insights. Continuously improve panel efficiency and value.
  • Oversee Operations & Budget: Manage reimbursements and payments, track budgets, and report on expenditure. Ensure smooth delivery with attention to detail and strong organisational skills.

You can contribute through your:

  • Degree in community development, communications, public health, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3–5 years' experience in consumer or community engagement (health, government, or not-for-profit ideal)
  • Strong commitment to inclusion, cultural safety, accessibility, and ethical engagement
  • Proven ability to build trusted relationships and ensure consumer voices inform decisions
  • Skilled in managing engagement projects end-to-end, including financial and admin coordination
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with discretion and empathy
