About the Department for Correctional ServicesThe Department employs approximately 2,000 staff and has responsibility for nine prisons and fifteen Community Correctional offices across the state. Our vision is for a safer community by protecting the public and reducing re-offending. Duties
The Senior Case Officer is responsible for contributing to the protection of the community by supervising traditional indigenous adult offenders, who live in remote and sparsely populated areas of SA, and are referred to the Department by sentencing and releasing authorities;
Supervision of non-indigenous offenders as required. The provision of case management strategies guided by assessments and case plans that address the criminogenic needs of Indigenous and other offenders. Liaison with a variety of Government and non-Government agencies in relation to the supervision of offenders.
Special Conditions
- Section 47 of the Public Sector Act 2009 applies in conjunction with other provisions of the act and other applicable industrial entitlements.
- The incumbent is required to satisfactorily complete a National Criminal History Check;
- A current South Australian Driver's Licence is essential;
- A flexible approach to working hours is required;
- Some interstate and intrastate travel will be required which may necessitate overnight absences.
- Appointees may be re-assigned to other locations within the region on an ongoing or temporary basis to perform duties of a similar nature and classification.
Requirements
Essential:
- For AHP2 classification: A degree level qualification in Social Work leading to eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
- For PO2 classification: Appropriate tertiary qualifications in community services, sociology, criminology, justice, correctional practice, social sciences, human services, health or related field
- For ASO5 classification: Nil
Desirable:
- For all classifications: Appropriate tertiary qualifications in community services, sociology, criminology, correctional practice, social sciences, human services, health or related field.
Remuneration and benefits
AHP2 ($91,785 - $106,330 pa)
PO2 ($88,255 - $97,667 pa)
ASO5 ($85,790 - $95,413 pa)
Relocation assistance & incentives – Eligibility government housing, or rental support and a locality allowance.
AHP employees may be eligible for the following additional benefits
- Professional Development (PD) – a $1,000 allowance increasing incrementally each year
- Regional assistance – 5-year Regional Incentive up to $7,061, with annual increases recognising your dedication to supporting the local community.
- Additional Qualifications Allowance- up to $1,123 per annum for eligible qualifications.
