Join one of Australia's most significant energy projects - the Port Kembla Energy Terminal - and play a vital role in ensuring the safe, reliable operation of this world-class facility. This is a hands-on position ideal for an experienced mechanical lead who enjoys leading by example and working closely with their team in the field.

About the Project

The Port Kembla Energy Terminal will enhance Australia's energy security and supply as the nation's first LNG import terminal. You'll work within an experienced, internationally backed operations team responsible for commissioning, maintaining, and optimising the terminal's performance.

About the Role

As the Mechanical Maintenance Lead, you'll take a proactive, on-the-tools approach to managing and executing mechanical maintenance. This includes coordinating both planned and unplanned maintenance, performing inspections and repairs, and ensuring all work meets the highest safety, environmental, and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and participate in mechanical maintenance activities - preventive, predictive, and corrective.
  • Perform hands-on inspections, testing, and repairs on pumps, compressors, valves, and hydraulic systems.
  • Support mechanical trades, contractors, and vendors to ensure safe, high-quality work.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records within the CMMS system and assist in KPI reporting.
  • Update maintenance schedules, spare parts lists, and technical documentation.
  • Participate in emergency response duties as required.
  • Foster a strong safety culture through visible leadership and practical engagement with your team.

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 4 years' experience in a similar hands-on mechanical role within Oil & Gas, energy, or heavy industrial sectors.
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems: hydraulic, rotating equipment, pipelines, and corrosion control.
  • Familiarity with CMMS systems (SAP preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and work safely in operational environments.
  • Strong understanding of safe systems of work (permit to work, confined spaces, hot works).
  • A relevant trade qualification or tertiary background in Engineering or a similar discipline.
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills.
