Chef/ Sous Chef

We are a well-established, busy café in Coogee seeking an experienced Sous Chef to support daily kitchen operations and lead service alongside the Head Chef.
This role is suited to chefs with 3+ years' experience who are confident running service, maintaining standards, and contributing to a professional, organised kitchen.
Key Responsibilities- Support the Head Chef in all day-to-day kitchen operations
- Lead service during busy periods and oversee kitchen workflow
- Deliver consistent, high-quality food in a fast-paced café environment
- Supervise, train, and support kitchen staff
- Manage prep, service flow, and kitchen organisation
- Assist with menu updates, specials, and seasonal changes
- Support ordering, stock control, food cost management, and waste reduction
- Maintain food safety, hygiene, and WHS compliance
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a professional kitchen
- Experience in a Sous Chef or senior chef role
- Background in high-volume café or casual dining environments
- Ability to lead service and perform under pressure
- Strong time management and organisational skills
- Solid understanding of food safety and kitchen compliance
- Food Safety Supervisor certification required
- Reliable, motivated, and committed to consistency and quality
- Australian work rights required for this position
