Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Booking Coordinator to join the Transcultural and Language Services (TALS) team.
Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne's rapidly growing outer north.
Services are provided through our five main campuses:
Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn Centre, and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park and Coburg.
About the Role:
The TALS Booking Coordinator holds a pivotal position in efficiently coordinating interpreting services at Northern Health. Their primary responsibilities include allocating in-house and external resources in line with Northern Health procedures, while also ensuring scheduling the in-house interpreters' shifts, timely communication of interpreter attendance and following up on interpreting agency bookings. With a strong focus on customer service, the Booking Coordinator handles TALS phone calls and email enquiries, providing prompt assistance and delivering operational support to ensure the smooth delivery of interpreting services across all modalities, including onsite, video, and telephone. Additionally, the Booking Coordinator actively contributes to the generation of booking activity reports and works collaboratively with interpreters, interpreting agencies, hospital staff and consumers to maintain a smooth delivery of language services at Northern Health.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in a healthcare or hospital setting.
- Proficiency in relevant computer applications and scheduling software.
- Familiarity with the medical language services profession.
- An understanding of the role of the interpreter in a Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CaLD) patient health care encounter.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and understanding of healthcare procedures and processes.
