About The Role
We are looking for a
Deployment Change Lead
to support the deployment of 1st Line Implementation and the development of 1st Line Assurance across our Product Groups as part of the Integrated Risk Management (IRM) Program.
Reporting to the
IRM Implementation Senior Manager – Southern Hemisphere
, you will be embedded within the
Risk Area of Expertise (AoE)
, which owns Rio Tinto's global risk framework and processes. You will work closely with colleagues across the AoE, technical Centres of Excellence (CoEs), and Product Group (PG) leaders to drive sustainable, group-wide improvements in the effectiveness of risk assurance.
This role is critical in supporting the 1 Line Implementation Leads to develop and deploy 1st Line Assurance Plans at our sites. You will deliver role-based training, provide 1 1 coaching on system usage, and embed assurance activities into site rituals and cadences.
Your operational and change management experience will be essential in collaborating with subject matter experts and operational leaders to refine and embed simplified Group-level risk assurance requirements for high consequence risks consistently across PGs. You will act as a key interface between frontline leaders and technical experts, ensuring alignment and integration across program workstreams and stakeholder groups.
By enabling effective implementation and adoption, you will directly contribute to Rio Tinto's
Best Operator strategy
, enhancing confidence in the strength of our critical controls and supporting the resilience of our business in managing material risks.
What You'll Bring
- Strong business acumen developed through diverse operational and functional roles, with deep familiarity with frontline stakeholder environments
- Proven experience in leading complex change programs and applying best-practice project and change management tools
- Operational experience in mining (underground, open cut) or minerals processing (smelting, refining)
- Demonstrated ability to engage and influence complex stakeholder groups, including operational leaders
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to simplify complex topics for diverse audiences
- Experience managing program schedules, reporting suites, and interdependencies across workstreams
- A track record of leading high-performing teams and fostering collaboration
- A strong commitment to safety—for yourself and those you work with
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally to support deployment activities
