Make a difference in your community every day
Are you driven to make a positive impact in the lives of young people? Join us as a Youth Mentor and support our Supportive Adolescent Boys Program, an initiative designed to empower boys to overcome family and domestic violence challenges, build resilience, and grow into confident young men.
At Centacare, we believe that every day brings an opportunity to make a meaningful impact. Imagine the joy of seeing the difference you make in your clients' lives. That's the joy you'll experience every day you come to work at Centacare.
Our Mission: Action for Impact
We are committed to helping each person we serve reach their fullest potential and experience a fulfilling life. As a key member of our community services team, you will bring this mission to life. Your positivity, commitment, and passion for living and working in the same community will be rewarded beyond measure.
Your role as a Youth Mentor
As a Youth Mentor in our Supporting Adolescent Boys Program, you will play a key role in providing support to boys who may have experienced family and domestic violence. Working in a safe, inclusive environment, you will help these young people build resilience, process their experiences, and foster personal growth. Through mentorship, healing-focused activities, and positive role modelling, you'll support their journey toward recovery and empowerment.
In this role, you'll encourage self-expression, emotional resilience, and community connection. One-on-one mentoring will allow you to address individual needs, supporting each boy's unique path to healing and self-confidence. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with families, schools, and community organisations to build a strong network of care, ensuring that participants receive the holistic support they need.
Key Responsibilities:
- Comprehensive Needs Assessments - Conduct thorough assessments of participants' needs, including family, community context, and risks related to violence.
- Individual Mentoring Sessions - Hold individual sessions using Centacare's holistic, family-focused approach to address family and domestic violence.
- Referral and Coordination – Coordinate referrals and collaborate with other organisations to meet the needs of participants and their families.
- Data Collection and Reporting - Collect and report accurate data on participants and (where safe) insights from families and communities.
- Continuous Improvement and Practice Development - Contribute to clinical practice improvements by staying current with research and adapting interventions to enhance service effectiveness.
Why join us?
In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a lasting impact on the lives of young boys in need. You will be part of a supportive and mission-driven team dedicated to creating a stronger, more resilient community. Our values – Dignity | Solidarity | Subsidiarity | Common Good - are the foundation of our work and shape the way we consistently deliver our programs.
