We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Transport Supervisor to support our Mackay operations and drive high performance across our transport team.

About the Role

Reporting to the Branch Operations Manager, the Senior Transport Supervisor plays a key leadership role within the Mackay branch. You will provide direction, oversight and operational guidance to ensure safe, cost-efficient and reliable general freight services.

This role requires strong leadership, exceptional organisational ability and a commitment to safety, service and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day transport operations to ensure efficiency, service delivery and safety.
  • Identify, document and implement operational improvements and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Implement and monitor cost control strategies to maintain cost efficiency across the transport operation.
  • Enforce compliance with Chain of Responsibility (CoR) and all statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrate strong safety leadership, actively contributing to a safe working environment through prestart, toolbox meetings and visible leadership.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with customers, suppliers, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
  • Monitor staff performance and provide structured, constructive feedback and mentoring.
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels to support operational demands.
  • Ensure policies, procedures and operational standards are upheld to meet customer delivery expectations and compliance requirements.
  • Analyse Power BI reports to support operational decision-making and performance improvement.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Branch Operations Manager.

About You

To be successful, you will bring a strong mix of operational experience, leadership capability and commercial awareness.

You will have:

  • Substantial experience supervising a general freight or transport operation.
  • Advanced knowledge of CoR, load restraint and relevant statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong understanding of road networks, permits and transport compliance.
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor and manage teams within a complex operation.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • High-level planning, analytical and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to interpret systems and reporting tools.
  • Strategic thinking, strong analytical skills and a keen eye for detail.
  • Commercial acumen with the ability to manage costs and support P&L outcomes.
