The Opportunity

Due to a new project wins and growth in the team, we are seeking an Assistant Cost Planner, to support senior cost planners in preparing tender cost plans, managing subcontractor pricing, and contributing to successful project delivery.

This role is a great opportunity for someone looking to develop their career in construction cost planning and estimating.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing initial cost plans for tenders and identifying potential risks or opportunities
• Support senior team members in reviewing subcontractor pricing and ensuring coverage of trades
• Record and maintain cost and program data for tenders and projects
• Participate in meetings with subcontractors to support competitive and accurate bids
• Help prepare Bills of Quantities and cost plan documentation for internal review
• Assist in handover of successful tenders to project teams
• Collaborate with senior team members to learn and contribute to tender and project processes
• Proactively develop understanding of cost planning, estimating, and the construction market

About you

• Willingness to learn and develop commercial, analytical, and construction knowledge
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• Good communication and teamwork skills

• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work under guidance

• Some experience in construction, estimating, or quantity surveying is desirable but not essential

• Relevant qualifications in construction management, engineering, quantity surveying, or related fields
• Interest in learning cost planning, tendering, and project delivery processes
• Basic computer skills and willingness to learn software like Buildsoft or CostX
