The Debating Convenor promotes and organises debating within the School and works with the Debating Captains to develop student leadership in this area. The position reports through the Coordinator of Extracurricular to the Deputy Principal and Principal.

Debating Responsibilities
CULTURAL AND RELIGIOUS
Assists in the continuing development of a culture that is in harmony with Catholic tradition, the charism of Mary Ward and the heritage of Loreto.
1.1. Encourage and support the growth, appreciation and acceptance of the values and beliefs of the Catholic Church.
1.2 Give personal witness to these values in carrying out daily duties.
1.3 Support structures, policies and procedures that realise the goals of the Loreto Schools' of Australia Mission Statement.
1.4 Foster the creation of an atmosphere of trust where the dignity and worth of each person is continually affirmed, particularly that of students.
1.5 Support and promote the School's pastoral care policy.
1.6 Support the prayer and liturgical life of the School.
2. COMMUNITY BUILDING
Supports the Principal in fostering a cohesive school community.
2.1 Provide loyalty and support to the Principal.
2.2 Promote harmonious and cooperative relationships between staff members and students.
2.3 Ensure policies and practices promote a positive climate within the School.
2.4 Communicate effectively with students, staff and parents both verbally, and in written form.
2.5 Give practical support to the Senior School Management Team, Subject and Year Wellbeing Coordinators and Year Academic Care Coordinators.
2.6 Organise activities and initiatives which contribute to and build upon the positive culture of the Senior School.
2.7 Undertake other such tasks and responsibilities as may be requested by the Principal from time to time.
3. DEBATING RESPONSIBILITIES
3.1 Promote debating within the School.
3.2 Communicates with the External Debating Coordinators
3.3 Organise inter-house debating.
3.4 Organisation of Catering requests for debates located at Loreto Kirribilli
3.5 Updating the Kirri 'Debating' page to ensure students have access to competition schedules, training schedules, instructions and results.
3.6 Organisation of Transport requests with School Reception, for debates located externally.
3.7 Checking the attendance of weekly training sessions via Clipboard and following up on attendance concerns with students and parents.
3.8 Communication with students and parents regarding student availability at debates each week
3.9 Oversee the organisation of Debating Trials in Term 4 in collaboration with the Coordinator of Extracurricular and External Debating Coordinators.
3.10 Organisation and coordination of the Debating Assembly in Term 4.
In collaboration with the Coordinator of Extracurricular provide administrative support to the overall organisation of the debating program.
3.12 Involve and include the Debating Captains in the organisation of debating within the School.
3.13 Attend debating evenings hosted by Loreto Kirribilli. This includes communicating with the External Debating Coordinators and organising the event request for the setting up of host and debating rooms, liaison with Security, signage and communication with the cleaners.
3.14 Write weekly articles for newsletters to inform the Loreto community about Debating at LK.
3.15 Inform the Principal, Deputy Principal and Head of Senior School of dates for Semi Finals and Finals.
