Description

Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia's future. 

Downer Professional Services is comprised of two business units, our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice and Team Downer, a major service partner to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for our clients in Defence and National Security.

We currently have an opportunity for a Contracts and Procurement Manager to support a Land Battle Management system Project based in Melbourne.

What You'll Do 

  • This role offers a broad scope, with key responsibilities including:
    Lead and manage major and minor contracts, ensuring compliance and performance.
  • Oversee procurement planning and execution aligned with Commonwealth legislation and policy.
  • Provide expert advice on contract and procurement issues, driving continuous improvement.
  • Analyse financial performance and reporting via the Sustainment Performance Management System (SPMS).
  • Mentor team members and manage workflows to deliver high-quality outcomes on time.


What You'll Bring

  • 10+ years' experience in Defence finance or contract management, with deep knowledge of the Capability Life Cycle.

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Commerce, Business, or Law.

  • Proven leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Expertise in managing end-to-end procurement and contract processes.

  • Ideally experience in C4I systems integration environments.

Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
