The Director of Safety, Quality and Governance leads and oversees key organisational functions that drive and support patient safety, quality improvement, governance processes, and consumer experience across SCHN.

This role provides expert, high-level advice to the Director of Medical Administration and Clinical Governance, as well as the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), on matters related to clinical governance. It involves close collaboration with Executives, site Directors and Managers, and other key stakeholders to enhance patient safety, quality initiatives, consumer experience, and governance practices within the paediatric healthcare setting.

What you'll be doing

The Director of Safety, Quality and Governance is responsible for the leadership, management and ongoing development of the Sydney Children's Hospitals Network (SCHN) Clinical Governance Unit (CGU) and its role in promoting and supporting excellence within the SCHN. The role oversees the managers of patient safety, quality process and improvement, policy and procedures, consumer experience, clinical ethics, and medicolegal services. The role oversees education and support for patient safety science and continuous improvement methodology, review of Hospital systems, clinical reviews, incident management, clinical practice improvement, consumer engagement, patient liaison, project management, complaint management and feedback coordination, accreditation co-ordination, resource and policy development and benchmarking activities.

About You

We're looking for someone who:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications including post graduate management qualifications or equivalent, and substantial work experience with a proven and successful track record in improvement, safety, risk management and consumer engagement
  • Knowledge of integrated risk management principles
    High level management experience
