About the Mental Health Division
The Mental Health Division (MHD) is committed to providing the highest levels of inpatient, residential, and community care in specialized environments for our patients. The department will lead and excel in research, teaching, and person-centered evidence-based practice to realise its goals. The MHD provides services on all three campuses of Austin Health, from the Emergency Department to bed-based services and ongoing ambulatory care.
About the role
The Mental Health Division is seeking an innovative, dynamic and skilled Psychiatrist to join the team. You will coordinate and oversee the training and educational requirements of Psychiatry Registrars accredited in the training program of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists. You will ensure registrars receive high quality supervision, clinical experience and professional development.
You will report to the Medical Director, Mental Health Division and work collaboratively with the mental health staff and teams. The position is based in Heidelberg but will work across all campuses of Austin Health.
A regular day will see you:
- Support registrars throughout their training journey, ensuring compliance with RANZCP standards and requirements, and facilitating access to the appropriate supervision, clinical experience, and professional development opportunities.
- Contribute to the planning and delivery of educational activities, teaching sessions, and workshops designed to enhance clinical skills and support academic learning.
- Support structured training pathways and foster a culture of continuous learning to prepare registrars for future consultant roles.
About you
To be successful in this role you'll bring with you:
- Registration as a Medical Practitioner in the State of Victoria holding a Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) or equivalent post graduate specialist qualification
Strong organisational skills, a collaborative approach, and a commitment to high standards of medical education are essential.
Demonstrated engagement, teamwork and collaboration.
Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
