Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria's courts and tribunal, Judicial College and Judicial Commission. Collectively, Victoria's Supreme, County, Magistrates', Children's, and Coroners courts, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), the Judicial College of Victoria, the Judicial Commission of Victoria, and Court Services Victoria (CSV) are referred to as the `Courts Group'.

The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) is the first level of the Victorian court system and is a jurisdiction within the Court Services Victoria. It has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state. The Court determines in excess of 300,000 cases per annum at 51 locations, equating to approximately 90 percent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year. The Court aims to be an innovative, accessible, and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community.

About the role

Are you a strategic leader with a passion for operational excellence and public service? The Magistrates' Court of Victoria is seeking a dynamic Registrar - Operations Manager to oversee all court operations and lead a dedicated team in delivering high-quality services across multiple jurisdictions.

As the Registrar - Operations Manager, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of a busy court complex. You'll provide leadership to staff, ensure compliance with legal and administrative frameworks, and drive service delivery aligned with the Court's strategic objectives.

Working closely with the Senior Registrar, judiciary, and key stakeholders, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of court services in Victoria. This includes offering high-level, authoritative advice to the Chief Magistrate, Chief Executive Officer, judiciary, staff, and court users, and actively contributing to the Court's strategic planning and direction. The Registrar also collaborates with Principal Registrars from VCAT, VoCAT, the Children's Court, County Court, and Supreme Court to support jurisdictional management and regional initiatives. Additionally, the role encompasses responsibility for registry operations, as well as the maintenance and security of court buildings and facilities.

Key Responsibilities

About You

Success in this role requires a deep understanding of administrative processes across jurisdictions, strong operational management capabilities, and sound judgement. You will bring:

  • ; Certificate IV in Court Services or equivalent is required.
